We stand the with people of Hong Kong willing to fight for a prosperous future where their rights will be respected and where their freedoms will be protected. Peace and stability rests on relationships that are rooted in principles. We must not turn our backs on those principles in exchange for profit or be indifferent to those who yearn to be free.

Good news! H.R. 3, the Lower Drug Costs Now Act, legislation to lower the cost of prescription drug prices, just passed out of the Committee on Education and Labor. The bad news is that this ambitious proposal to lower drug costs for every American passed on a party line vote with 27 Democrats voting for it, and 21 Republicans voting against it. My Republican colleagues need to stop putting their “socialism” talking points above the needs of the American people.

Today, I am announcing my support for formally launching impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump. I cannot ignore the call to defend our institutions, to safeguard our democratic norms, and to stand up for our democracy. It would be a dereliction of duty to sit by idly as the president chips away at our democracy, day by day. Our job is big and we cannot shrink from holding this president accountable.

On a vote of 429-3, the House passed legislation to #StopBadRobocalls. Robocallers are using fake phone numbers to scam consumers and Congress is working to put an end to these annoying and fraudulent practices.

Surplus campaign funds should not be used for personal benefit or to bolster lobbying careers. The Let It Go Act would force political campaigns to let go of leftover campaign funds. #ForThePeople

According to OpenSecrets, 42 Members of Congress who resigned or retired before the 2018 midterm elections had a combined outstanding balance of $50 million in campaign funds. It’s not their money, they should Let It Go!

I introduced the Let It Go Act to ensure that the hard-earned dollars Americans donate to campaigns every cycle are not being abused by a candidate long after their campaign is over. This bill will help restore trust that these funds are being used responsibly and not for personal gain.

Corruption always bothered me anyway, read about my bill here: https://takano.house.gov/newsroom/press-releases/rep-takano-introduces-let-it-go-act-to-stop-personal-use-of-campaign-funds-after-the-campaign-ends

The GOP tax bill: A massive gift to corporations and the super wealthy.

*Ordinary person played by Rep. Mark Takano.

*Corporate CEO played by Rep. Ted Lieu (not an actual corporate CEO)

When Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell writes a deeply dishonest op-ed about the Senate GOP tax plan, there’s only one appropriate response: The red pen.

The House GOP tax bill raises an interesting question: What would it be like to spend the holidays with House Republicans? Rep. Ted Lieu and I tried to answer with this video…
