When asked this morning about a clean bill to fund the government, Speaker Boehner said he doesn’t have the votes, despite 21 House Republicans publicly supporting a clean funding bill.
Why isn’t he telling the truth?

BOEHNER: There are not the votes in the House to pass a clean CR.

The concentration of uninsured in my district is one of the highest in the country.

As of midnight tonight, the United States Federal Government has officially shut down due to a lack of appropriations.
The actions taken in recent days by Speaker Boehner and the House Republicans have been shameful. They have pulled nearly every legislative trick in the book to force Senate Leader Reid to give in to their unyielding demand to strip health care away from millions of Americans.
Whether a deal is struck in the next few hours or not, my office will be open tomorrow and will continue to serve the residents of California’s 41st Congressional District. It is a commitment that I made and, despite Congress’ failings, one I will continue to uphold.
The GOP Shutdown will wreak havoc on the economy.
